Pursuant to its guiding principle “Quality provides Security”, the ECB with its ECB•S certification mark guarantees maximum security properties to  European Standards. At present, there are approximately 1000 valid ECB•S certificates in the global security market. For the user, it offers maximum security in investment decisions. For the insurance industry, it is a reliable and objective basis for risk calculation and the resulting insurance grading.

In 1992, the ECB (at that time, still named: Forschungs- und Prüfgemeinschaft Geldschränke und Tresoranlagen e.V. - FuP, later European Security Systems Association e.V.) was accredited as certification body according to EN 45011. The responsible accreditation body now is  DAkkS Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH. FuP was founded as a certification body for security products in 1967 already. As a consequence, the ESSA has more than 40 years of experience in the testing and certification of security technology.
